Hello, my name is René Pöpperl and I am a passionate software developer, blogger, founder of Uptinel, and co-founder of essQUISITO. I live in the small town of Weißenbrunn in Upper Franconia – a place with over 500 years of brewing history 🍺.
For more than 15 years, I have been helping companies accurately map their processes into software and update or replace their – perhaps a bit outdated – programs with modern components. So that work becomes more enjoyable again and everything runs more smoothly.

A few fun facts about me
- Although I am a software developer, I prefer to write my notes by hand in my bullet journal.
- I know software that’s older than some junior developers.
- I’m a loyal soul. I’ve been faithful to Symfony for 15 years and see no reason to change that.
- My code runs on servers, smartphones, POS systems, and locker systems. Fridges and airplanes are still missing.
- A phrase that gives me whiplash from shaking my head: “That’s how we’ve always done it.”
- “That’ll only take 5 minutes!”—I’m much more cautious with that phrase these days.
